First, I want to thank you for the indepth training that I received during my stay for the 5 day Corporate Train the Trainer program held in March, 2012.
We have to give a big thank you to Paces Paper, located in Atlanta, GA for allowing The American School of Protocol® to have a truly hands on learning experience. Jackie Garson Howard, owner of Paces Paper, educated the participants on stationery and captivated everyone with the beautiful styles of crane paper that are available.

Deciding on paper texture, size, color and fonts that will represent an individual and their business can often be challenging. At Paces Paper, Jackie gave her expert advice. She laid the ground work for where to begin and what to stay away from.

Correspondence cards and stationery can leave a lasting impression. Taking the time to invest and find a stand out stationery is 100% worth it!!

“Having completed both the Children’s Train the Trainer Certification and the Corporate Etiquette Certification programs, I feel prepared to teach any and all types of clients. The material is very thorough and Ms. Newfield’s experiences and wealth of knowledge is invaluable.”

“I highly enjoyed the week long Corporate Training program. I have no regrets for the amount of time spent with Peggy and the cost for attending the Corporate Etiquette Training. The information provided in the manuals is useful and will be a great asset for me while I am developing my business.”

“I am just in awe of the class content and ‘hands on’ training that I received. There aren’t enough words to express this wonderful training.”

“Having been through both the Children’s Training Program and Corporate Etiquette Certification, I have nothing but kudos for both! The information and the process for both was well thought out and well taught.”

The Corporate Dress session that took place at Neiman Marcus is an exceptional opportunity. The format was informative, interactive and entertaining. I gained invaluable information and exposure.

The American School of Protocol® is an extraordinary Etiquette Training Company. During the 5-Day Train the Trainer program, each trainee is provided the unique opportunity to watch Peggy teach and mesmerize the children as well as gain an actual experience through teaching children etiquette daily.

This valuable training technique not only affords the Trainees a chance to use their new found knowledge immediately, it also creates an excitement and confidence within them. Trainees realized that their dreams of owning their own business are not just a possibility, but a reality.

Thank you so much for the valuable information I received during the Children’s Train the Trainer Program. I participated in the Corporate class first under the assumption I did not need the children’s Training. Boy was I wrong.

The children’s course was so informative as to business start-up procedures, interacting with young people, how to form classes and what to teach.

I cannot say enough about the manuals. I was amazed that every topic is covered! The individual Break-out Sessions were fantastic. There were areas where more one-on-one attention took place and even more instruction was given. The session with Mary Donne, ASP’s Corporate Attorney answered my questions pertaining to the business side of forming my company.

I am very glad I took both classes and I have no regrets in the order in which I took them.

Corporate Training taught me how to be Professional, The Children’s Training taught me how to teach.

Jessica Young’s social media presentation was outstanding and it relieved my fear and skepticism of social media networking. Her PowerPoint presentation on “Social Media for Business” was informative, educational and research-based regarding the following free networks on the web: LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and Facebook.

After being apprised of the aforementioned networks, I was convinced that LinkedIn and Facebook would be a good zero-cost marketing strategy for my newly created Etiquette School for Success.

The small group session we had with Dolores near the end of the week was especially useful. There we had to remember and put into use all of the skills we had learned throughout the week. Each of us had a chance to teach one of the dining lessons to our fellow etiquette trainees. This hands-on experience tested our recall abilities, confidence, and knowledge base. It was a great way to put together everything we had learned so far. Dolores was more than helpful along the way!

The following are a few simple tips that can help polish up your table manners!

When you sit down at the table, put your napkin in your lap.

If six people or less are at a table, wait until all are served before starting to eat. At a buffet where there are eight or ten people at a table, wait until half the table has been seated before starting to eat.

Diets, foods you are allergic to, or foods you don’t like, aren’t really dinner conversation.

Elbows can be placed on the table between courses when no food is at your place. In America, the hand not being used should rest in your lap. Worldwide, continental style of dining allows wrists to rest on the table.

If you have to sneeze or cough at the table, turn your head to the side and cover your mouth with the napkin.

Skip remarks such as “I’m too full,” “I ate too much,” or “I’m stuffed!”

Eat slowly! Don’t overload the fork or spoon.

Remove olive pits and small bones from the mouth with the thumb and forefinger. A piece of meat you can’t chew is slid onto the fork and placed on your dinner plate.

Sandwiches, olives, celery, radishes, raw carrots, salted nuts, fresh fruits, cookies and small cakes are put on your plate before eating, not on the tablecloth.

Bread and rolls are broken (never cut) one piece at a time and each piece buttered as it is eaten.

Fried chicken is eaten with a knife and fork, unless you are at a picnic where you can use your fingers.

Pizza – just bend it so you can get it into your mouth.

French fries are eaten with a fork – cut them in half if they are bigger than bite size. (Eat them with your fingers if you are at a picnic.)

When eating spaghetti, hold a large spoon in your left hand. Holding the fork in your right hand, wind the pasta around the fork while pushing against the spoon.

When eating corn on the cob, butter and salt only a few rows at a time and hold the ear in both hands.

Use a fork on gooey sandwiches and a knife and fork on hot sandwiches.

Eat pie with a dessert fork and cake à la mode with a dessert fork and spoon.

Condiments such as mustard, ketchup, relishes, and jelly go on your plate first instead of directly on the food.

After your meal is over, say something nice about the food to your host.

It is refreshing to see someone of Ms. Newfield’s caliber introduce children to not only manners and etiquette at the table, but also the art of interesting conversation.

During our three hour dinner with the students, I was amazed at how adult the children conducted themselves. The children we worked with quickly blossomed before our eyes. They were glowing with pride and happiness when the class was over. As a future Children’s Etiquette Trainer, I feel extremely fortunate to be able to learn Peggy’s style of teaching and to have had the opportunity to work with her amazing staff as well!
