Rio Speaks PDF Print E-mail
A Charming Book That Teaches Telephone Skills And Handling Emergencies

Some lessons are lifesavers. Literally!

"Rio Speaks" is the story of just such a lesson. Through captivating prose and adorable torn-paper illustrations, author and etiquette expert, Peggy Newfield, introduces readers to young David Smith and his standard poodle pal, Rio. As the story begins, David is home from school, sick with a cold. He decides to review his "Telephone Manners" homework in bed, sharing what he's learning with Rio. When David's mother is injured, David puts his lesson into action. Rio helps David remain calm, reminds him of what they've learned, and together they save the day.

This enchanting true story is based on one of Peggy's etiquette students, who used what she taught him in class to save his mother's life when an emergency occurred. "Rio Speaks" promotes kindness, family love, courage and crisis intervention.

This book is appropriate for 1st through 5th grades.

David and Rio have many more tales to tell! Watch for new books in the "Rio Series" coming soon.
